thanks-giving

I don't know about you, but Thanksgiving is a Big Affair in my family (as are most holidays) and I really miss it being on the other side of the country from every blood relation.  This year we were lucky enough to be invited to another dinner of strays and asked to make the pies.  I went sort of overboard and made 4 pies - apple and pumpkin, all using spelt pastry and dairy free pie filling (this filling recipe, definitely recommend it. The photos are uncooked, to clarify. We were in a mad rush once they were out of the oven).  They turned out great, if a little thick-crusted.

Satomi, Seb and I went for a Thanksgiving walk up the mountain in the morning before dinner.  It was so beautiful, but crazy to think how warm it was last year (bare arms and legs!) compaired to the warm coats we needed this weekend.  I'm thankful I still get to hang around with these folks - they make me feel at home no matter what city I'm living in.

those pies sound delicious...i wanted to make one myself, but i opted for a walk in the park with my sweetheart, and a store-bought one instead. SIGH. at least we cooked our own ham/mashed potatoes/roasted veggies! haha.

    1. I definitely would - tasted exactly like the pie I normally make, and was really quick to make.
