Christmas can never arrive early enough for me; I love the smells, the music, the food, the crafting, the lights, just every little bit about it. This year we started a little bit early, getting a wreath to make the apartment smell in the morning, mandarins wrapped in paper, candles, and a crafting afternoon with my favourite fellow West Coaster before she moved away.
This year Seb and I decided to make our own advent calendar. I bought chocolates, tiny bottles of scotch and champagne, tiny tins of tea, and Skittles for Seb. I wrapped them all up in Seb's old math notebook, wrote our name and a number on each one, and now every evening we're going to have to hunt through all those numbers to find each day. I'm happy with this plan - low key and very tasty. Happy advent!
i'm a really big xmas person too...and i've been thinking about how to handmake an advent calendar i'd like, but obviously i'll be starting it a bit late this year, haha. :) i like your idea of just hand-wrapping bits + pieces, and keeping it very low-key. hope you don't mind if i steal it? :)
ReplyDeletenot one little bit - it's never too late! You could do an advent calendar that only went for a week? That would probably be easier to dig through that this monstrosity..
DeleteI agree...saying this as I'm still in my pajamas at 2 on a day I'm supposed to be making some gifts!
